Our only meeting in June was our TailTwister Night Cookout at the Reed Road Shelter House. If you didn’t happen to make it to this “meeting”,you missed the event of the year. Lions Tom Dolbow and Jane Jarrow put on a feast fit for a king (or a hungry Lion) and members and guests were treated to a great evening of socializing and entertainment, including a magician. This could be a hard one to top!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US/YOU!
In case you have been sleeping under a rock for the last half century or so, the TriVillage Lions is having a birthday this year. Our club will turn 60 years old this fall and you are all invited to the party. Lion Al Sulser has put together a committee to head up the event which will be held on Saturday, September 25th at the OSU Golf Club banquet facility.
The committee is working on the banquet menu, entertainment, guest speaker, door prizes and a silent auction. Things are shaping up to be an event worthy of celebrating our 60 years of service. Stay tuned for the complete details in next month’s edition.
SILENCE IS GOLDEN
A very “classy” Silent Auction will figure prominently in the festivities for our 60th Anniversary Charter Night celebration on September 25. The committee has already started to gather items to be sold to the highest bidder in what will (hopefully!) be a fierce competition. We have original works of art, tickets for football games, catered meals, themed goodie baskets, and items signed by local celebrities already promised. What can YOU add to the collection?
We aren’t looking for White Elephant items this time around, but rather novel, exciting, and substantive contributions that are befitting the significant achievement represented by our 60th anniversary. Do you
have something you would be willing to contribute? Perhaps you have an artist in your family whose work you would like to see highlighted (and appreciated!). Maybe you know a local business owner who would be
willing to contribute a gift certificate? Or, in keeping with our motto of “we serve!”, perhaps
you would like to offer up your services to share your own expertise with Lions in need — a day as a driver for one of our members who doesn’t have independent transportation, a few hours of technology expertise to help some of our less tech-savvy members learn how to better use their computer, or your services as a handyman for a few hours of miscellaneous projects around the house. Use your imagination!
If you have something to contribute to the Silent Auction, please contact Al Sulser (who not only heads the Charter Night Committee, but also is spearheading the Silent Auction preparation) by e-mail at alansulser@wowway.com or give him a call at 486-3361.
